Woodland Bohemian Outdoor Party Inspiration

I have totally been crushing on all things bohemian lately. I may not dress like a boho chick, but I completely appreciate the look in all its feminine, throw-back glory.  I've been planning a special little intimate party, the details of which I will keep on the down-low for now. These are some of the images that have helped me come up with my overall plan and I couldn't wait to share them with you. If you would like more details for each photo, just click the link below each one.

Overall Aesthetic:
Flower crowns, feminine and flowing fabrics, and a nod to yesteryear. What's not to love?

The Details:
What could go better with flower crowns than moss and ferns and flowers? And the setting? Outside amongst the beauty God has created.

The Color Scheme:
Mint green, coral, and blush pink. Such a beautiful combo. Needing color inspiration for a party or even a room re-do? Look at the latest wedding trends to get inspiration.

I really, really, really hope that the weather cooperates so that I can have this little shindig outside like I have planned. It just won't feel the same if I have to do it indoors, but I'll make it work if that happens.

I looked to a lot of wedding trends and photos for my inspiration for this upcoming party. Where do you look to get inspiration?

The Easter That Was

As I'm sitting here downing my second cup of coffee, (please wake up, brain!), I wanted to tell you a little about our Easter weekend.  It was simple and no frills.....just the way I like it.

On Saturday, we gathered at my sister-in-law's home for dinner and egg hunting for the kiddos.

Pictured are my two rugrats with my four nieces. (I didn't get to see my two nephews this weekend.)  Taylor and Gabby are too 0ld to hunt eggs so they help out a great deal with the little ones hiding the eggs and then helping them find them.

On Sunday, we enjoyed a beautiful Easter service, then headed to Jared's Granny's for lunch and more egg hunting. It was cloudy and cool both days, but the kids didn't let that dampen their spirits.

The race is on for the eggs!

Katlyn was so proud of all the eggs she found. Just look at that smile!

After our egg-hunting eggstravaganza, they got a little preoccupied with the mini trampoline.  Ashlyn was jumping as high as she possibly could in her true fashion; all or nothing.

My niece, Ava, tried so hard to keep up with the bigger girls.  She hung right with them.

Here are a couple of pics I quickly snapped of the simple table I set for Easter that we ended up not using.  It was cloudy, so I didn't get great photos.  Jared wasn't feeling well, so we ended up going home and resting and didn't get to have my brother and sister-in-law over for dinner.  I didn't get a chance to add the finishing touches to it, like silverware, glasses, place cards, or any final touches or embellishments. But it would've been pretty if I had been able to use it.

Above the table, is a birch branch that I spray painted pink and then hung crystals from it.  I used it a couple months ago at a friend's baby shower and decided to use it for our Easter table. If I had been able to finish the tablescape, I probably would have hung a few eggs and maybe moss balls from it as well.

I hope you all had a marvelous Easter weekend!  We enjoyed ours in spite of not getting to see all of our family.

He is risen, indeed!

Budget Thanksgiving Kid Table

This kid table decor cost me less than $6 for four place settings.

I wanted a no-fuss kid table. One that I didn't mind if it got spilled on, stained, or a little messy.  If your kids are anything like mine, there is bound to be some sort of mess by the end of the meal.

I wanted to give the kiddos a fun area, but I didn't want to spend a lot of moolah.

I raided the dollar aisle at Target after Halloween and scored lots of dollar items for only 30 cents each.

These are wine bags.  I have no use for them as wine bags, but I loved the cute sayings on them.  I grabbed them knowing that I could think of another way to use them.  I stuffed them with plastic bags so they would stand up and greet everyone with their cute sayings.

I already had napkins, forks, sodas, pumpkins, burlap, and twine.  Most items were leftover from fall decorating and my sister's Little Pumpkin Baby Shower

Let's break it down. How much did I spend?
At Target--(75% off dollar aisle items)
*wine bags                   3 @ .30
*Treat cups                 1 @ .30
*Felt pumpkins          4 @ .30
*Turkey tea lights      2 @ .30
*Happy Harvest sign 2 @ .30

At Hobby Lobby--(last year 75% off end of season sale)
*place cards          1 pack @ .50

At Dollar Store
*plates                    1 pack @ $1

For a total of................... $5.10 plus tax

Simple, but inexpensive and something that the kiddos can enjoy!

Thanksgiving Tablescape and Thankfulness

November.....the month of thankfulness.

A time when we all reflect on our blessings and maybe tell each other a little more often how much we appreciate one another. A time when we thank God a little more often for what He has done for us and given us so undeservedly. A time when we actually think about all the things that we so often take for granted.

We gather around the table in homes, eat together and enjoy being together.  We smile. We laugh.  We are thankful.

I wanted to create an inviting space to sit down together for a nice Thanksgiving meal. A space that invites smiles, and laughs. One that spurs on love and openness and thankfulness.

I used my daughter's scalloped bulletin board as the base for the centerpiece.  I then added in gold and neutral pumpkins that I already had from this centerpiece.  Then I walked around my yard and gathered magnolia leaves, twigs, and pinecones for a more natural look that brought in some of the greens and yellows from the plaid tablecloth.

I used a gold paint pen to write names on magnolia leaves for place cards. The silverware was tied together with jute twine with a sprig of rosemary to adorn it.  I purchased the embroidered napkins at Target for only $2.99 for a set of six. (I am thankful for 75% off at Target.)

The black paint on the cork board is chalkboard paint. If you didn't want to use magnolia leaves as place cards, you could write the names of your guests on the board itself in front of each setting......

.......or you could have them each write something they are thankful for.

There are so many things to be thankful for. Don't you agree?

Little Pumpkin Baby Shower

This weekend, with the help of my sister-in-law Kayla,  I had the honor of hosting a baby shower for my sister Leanne and her little pumpkin on the way!  What better theme for a fall shower!  When I mentioned to my sister what I was planning on doing, she said that she actually calls baby Liam her little pumpkin sometimes. How sweet!

I started out by making the invitations using PicMonkey.   If you haven't checked it out, you should.  It is a wonderful FREE photo editing site.  (I blacked out personal info for privacy.)

We kept everything really simple with pops of orange and yellow and little pumpkins everywhere. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed the afternoon sun streaming through the windows.

I used washi tape to make the little flags on the caramel apples and also on the pumpkin spice muffins.

We enjoyed finger sandwiches in the shape of pumpkins.

The menu included: Pumpkin Spice Muffins (Weight Watchers recipe) with cream cheese frosting, caramel apples, cream cheese with Harry and David red pepper jelly and crackers,  pretzels, mini vanilla cupcakes, pumpkin shaped finger sandwiches, pumpkin candy, cheese, and apple slices.

I printed out small pumpkins and hung with baker's twine.

This was printed and framed for the table.  I also made it over on PicMonkey.

Leanne is 36 weeks!

The beautiful diaper cake was made by my sister-in-law, Kayla. Isn't it adorable?

What a wonderful day for my sister!  Thanks to everyone who came out and celebrated with us.
