Favorite Farmhouse Decor Sources

If you weren't already a Farmhouse style lover, then you might have been persuaded to join the barracks with the entrance of Chip and Joanna Gaines' Fixer Upper. At any rate, Farmhouse style is very in right now and often pairs well with an array of other design styles as well, making it easy to incorporate some of the elements into your home without having to completely start over with your decor.

Today, I wanted to share with you some of my favorite sources for beautiful Farmhouse style. Whether you lean more toward Modern Farmhouse or Traditional Farmhouse, these sites will definitely have something for you. This isn't a sponsored post, just sites that I love and have ordered from and I wanted to pass along to you!

Decor Steals

Decor Steals is a daily deals site featuring a new Farmhouse find every day. This is probably one of my favorite sites and I check it (ahem) daily to see what today's steal is. You really can score some great deals here and shipping is a reasonable $5 flat fee. I've ordered a few times from this site and haven't been disappointed. I like it because they often have unique items that are hard to find locally.

In addition to the one daily steal, Decor Steals will often offer extended steals. This will vary from day to day. Sometimes there will be six extended offers, and sometimes only a couple. As with everything on this site, buy it quick because items often sell out quickly.

Painted Fox Home

Painted Fox Home has an array of gorgeous Farmhouse finds! Lots and lots of beautiful and unique items! I love to browse through this site.

A neat feature on Painted Fox Home is the Collections. They are curated by home and diy bloggers and often include items that are in their own homes. It cool to see how they use the items at home to give you an idea of how to style your purchases.

Magnolia Market

Obviously, I had to include the site that's run by the queen of Farmhouse style, Joanna Gaines. Her site has such cute items for your home, including decor featured on Fixer Upper. You can't go wrong purchasing from here if that Farmhouse Style is what you're after.

Have you found a Farmhouse style source other than these? I'd love to hear from you. Leave a comment below!

A Collected Home

I was talking to a friend a couple of days ago about not wanting my home to look like I went to a "big box furniture store" and brought home a furniture set that was on display. I want to surround myself with things that I love, things that have character and tell a story.  I don't want a "buy it right now and settle for what I find" home, I want a "collected" home.

I think in watching HGTV and the DIY Network sometimes, it makes it appear as if you can have a fully furnished home with lots of unique finds in a day or a week.  And while the professionals on those shows may have a treasure trove of awesome oddities and full-of-character-furniture pieces at their disposal, it probably takes the rest of us time to collect just the right things for our homes. I like to wait to find that thing that really speaks to me. No. The thing that sings to me.

This chair was one of those items that sang to me.  I found it a flea market for $28.  I loved the tone of the wood. I loved the round seat, the lines of the back of the chair, and the beautiful legs.  Sometimes, you see something and there is no debating, Should I get it? You just know it belongs with you in your home.  Those are the things that are one-of-a-kind, the items that are unique and no one can go online or to a furniture store and find the same thing. These things have a story to tell.

I think accenting your home with these type things are what gives it uniqueness. And you can't do it all in a day or a year. It takes time to get that "collected" look.

This chair is absolutely gorgeous, right? I'm so glad I found it.

Here are a few more items that "sang to me" over the weekend. No debate about whether to buy, just a confident You belong with me

This wooden lamp needs to be re-wired, but it is absolutely gorgeous and is quite large. It's three feet ten inches from the base to the finial.

I loved the worn, chippiness of the wood and paint.  I loved the size and bulk of the piece.

The shape of the shade is beautiful in all of its rusty glory. I may spray it with poly to keep the rust from flaking and use an Edison bulb in the lamp. Or I might get a new shade and use this shade frame to make a flush mount light. Not sure yet. (Got this for $5)

This little stool isn't quite sturdy enough for sitting, but is perfect for a small side table. I loved its worn, paint-spattered legs. And you can never go wrong with classic, hard-back books. (Stool, $3 and both books for $1.75)

The picture doesn't do this lamp justice. It is a very well-made, sturdy lamp, and it is bigger than it looks.  I love the adjustable swing arm and the lines of it. Just gorgeous. This will go in the reading nook in the living room when I get furniture to make the reading nook in the living room. (Lamp was $20)

This suitcase stand has lots of possibilities in my mind. It might become a base for a side table. ($3)

And this was the least expensive purchase that I made this weekend. Three wire baskets for $1. Yep,  just a dollar!  I love industrial stuff and these would be great in an office, or just to organize stuff.

I love all of these "finds." They are unique and they have a story. Little by little, I am on my way to a collected home.

What is your favorite "collected" piece you have found? Let me know in the comments!

The Chapel Market Recap Part 2

Yesterday, I shared with you guys the amazing time we had at The Chapel Market this past weekend.  I had so much to tell you all that I just had to break it up into two posts so I could pack it all in without making one excrutiatingly long post.

After we finished shopping all of the wonderful vendor's booths, we made our way around the quaint little neighborhood.  It really seemed like a movie set.

Drive by photos!  The landscaping in this neighborhood was beautiful. I just had to capture it! Once we meandered through the neighborhood, we made our way "across the way" as one lady called it. We had the opportunity to look in about four model homes. They all had things about them that I liked, however, only one was furnished.  It was my favorite of the four. Not because it was furnished....I can look past that. It had my favorite layout.

This home had some wonderful built-ins throughout the home.  When you first walk in, the living/kitchen/dining area greet you. The open shelves provide great storage on one side.....

And a banquet welcomes you to sit and have a meal on the other. I really loved the idea of a built-in banquet, however, this home did not have a formal dining room. This was the only area for eating, so I would've preferred maybe the banquet for family dinners or breakfast and a formal dining room for holidays and company.

The kitchen had honed marble countertops and a mosaic backsplash.  There was so much room there to cook and prep!

This was the downstairs bedroom.  It was a good size and tastefully staged.  The ceilings downstairs were ten feet high and all of the ceilings upstairs were nine feet.

As you approach the upstairs landing, a spacious built-in greets you. The back of the built-in was bead board.

This shared bedroom was so adorable.  You walk into the Jack and Jill bathroom into.....

.....the second shared bedroom.  I love the built-in bunk beds, complete with lights for reading.  The red butterfly chairs were actually metal. They were so cute!

And the master bedroom was done in a soothing blue. My favorite thing about it are the bedside lights.

And lastly, here are the goodies I got to bring home from such a wonderful market:

The basket cloche, marquis letters which I was told come from the high school in Thistlewood, and crystals came from Thistlewood Farms.  The zinc mini chalkboards and the "H," "i," and Alabama state cards came from Perfectly Imperfect.

I loved this repurposed knob turned picture holder from Urban Farmgirl.

The scrabble letters came from Miss Mustard Seed.  Yes, I am missing an "h" but I've got that covered.  My friend, Stephanie, said she had one I could have.

The adorable yardstick arrow was made by Laura of Finding Home. She was super sweet I enjoyed getting to meet her.

And, lastly, the two little brown pedestals were from Mary Kay Andrews.

I can't wait to get all of these to their new places in my home.  When I bought these items, I had a specific place or purpose in mind for them in my home.  Do you do that when you shop?  Do you hold off on purchases when you are not sure how you will use it even if you love it?  Or do purchase things you love and worry about the specifics later?

The Chapel Market Recap Part 1

31 Days of Revising Home: Day 21

Saturday, my friend Stephanie and I headed up to Pike Road, Alabama for The Chapel Market.  I think I only slept about four hours the night before because I was so excited

It was an overcast day, but that didn't dampen our spirits.

We were some of the first to arrive, about fifteenth in line.  I was so glad we got there as early as we did because due to space limitations and fire code, they were only letting a certain amount of people in at a time. People came from all over.  We did meet fellow Alabamians, but also met some gals from South Carolina, Georgia, and Illinois.

The neighborhood the Chapel is located in is absolutely picturesque. I wish my photos did it justice.

The line grew pretty quickly and stayed like this until later in the morning.

Evan G. Cooper from Evan and Company greeted us to get the day started.

Two of these were hung on the front doors of the venue.  They were made with fresh greenery and I absolutely loved them!  In the past, blue hasn't been a color often associated with fall decor, but recently, I have seen it used more. The sprigs of cotton and white pumpkins make this door hanger unforgettable.

When we first walked in, since we were close to the front of the line, the crowd wasn't that bad.

But, it didn't take long for it to look like this.  Elbow to elbow, people. And that was with them limiting how many could come in at one time.

I got to meet the lovely Shaunna from Perfectly Imperfect. She was so sweet and her booth was absolutely adorable.

Here is the only shot I got of the Perfectly Imperfect booth and it is a little blurry. It was kind of hard to stop and take pictures amidst the crowd without causing a traffic jam or elbowing someone in the face.

I also met Karianne from Thistlewood Farms. Ya'll, she was precious. I think in this photo, we were laugh-talk-smiling. If you have never checked out her blog, you should.  Her home is gorgeous and I adore her style of writing.

Fresh flowers were available from Evan & Co.  They were beautiful.

Southern Accents had lots of interesting architectural salvage.

Urban Farmgirl's booth had some unique vintage items.

I love the vintage hipster vibe of her booth.  There were lots of plaids, antlers, and metal items.

This was one of the funniest things!  We left after doing our initial walk through and came back later that afternoon when the crowds had died down.  When we walked back into Urban Farmgirl's booth, someone had so lovingly left this message for everyone. It cracked me up and I had to share.

We got to meet Mary Kay Andrews. She was such a sweet lady.  She has a new book out called Christmas Bliss. I look forward to reading it.

We had an absolute blast!  Be sure to check back tomorrow for Part 2. I will be sharing photos of the model home open house we went to while we were there in the neighborhood and also the items I brought home with me and how I am incorporating them into my Revising Home plan.  This week I will be talking about revising home in our decor and how and where to shop for it!

Update: See Part 2 here.
