Wooden Spring Moss Monogram Letter

It's March first and Spring decorating is in full swing at my house. I've brought out the pastel pinks and all the green stuff I can find. If it's not quite green outside yet, I'll bring green to the inside! 

I'm not sure where I saw this project, but I'm thinking it was on Instagram. I'm not sure who posted it or even if it was exactly like this, I just have a notion that I saw a photo of a project similar to this, so I can't take full credit. Then, I went to Micheal's and saw this hollowed out wooden letter and I knew I had to create a pretty Spring monogram full of moss!

Like I said, the letter came from Micheal's for around $5 when I purchased it when it was half off. The bag of beautiful, assorted moss was $3.99 from TJ Maxx, and the stem of pink flowers was only $1 from the Dollar Tree. So, for only around $10, I've got a beautiful new Spring decor item (with some of the moss and flowers left over for another project.)

 All I had to do was hot glue the moss and flowers in place and I was done. It took less than ten minutes!

At this point in the year, I'm definitely ready for Spring and this project helped me jump start my Spring decorating and it makes me so happy to look that pretty, vibrant green and pink! Have you started Spring decorating yet?

Favorite Farmhouse Decor Sources

If you weren't already a Farmhouse style lover, then you might have been persuaded to join the barracks with the entrance of Chip and Joanna Gaines' Fixer Upper. At any rate, Farmhouse style is very in right now and often pairs well with an array of other design styles as well, making it easy to incorporate some of the elements into your home without having to completely start over with your decor. 

Today, I wanted to share with you some of my favorite sources for beautiful Farmhouse style. Whether you lean more toward Modern Farmhouse or Traditional Farmhouse, these sites will definitely have something for you. Decor Steals

Decor Steals is a daily deals site featuring a new Farmhouse find every day. This is probably one of my favorite sites and I check it (ahem) daily to see what today's steal is. You really can score some great deals here and shipping is a reasonable $5 flat fee. I've ordered a few times from this site and haven't been disappointed. I like it because they often have unique items that are hard to find locally. 

In addition to the one daily steal, Decor Steals will often offer extended steals. This will vary from day to day. Sometimes there will be six extended offers, and sometimes only a couple. As with everything on this site, buy it quick because items often sell out quickly. 


Painted Fox Home

Painted Fox Home has an array of gorgeous Farmhouse finds! Lots and lots of beautiful and unique items! I love to browse through this site.

A neat feature on Painted Fox Home is the Collections. They are curated by home and diy bloggers and often include items that are in their own homes. It cool to see how they use the items at home to give you an idea of how to style your purchases.


Magnolia Market

Obviously, I had to include the site that's run by the queen of Farmhouse style, Joanna Gaines. Her site has such cute items for your home, including decor featured on Fixer Upper. You can't go wrong purchasing from here if that Farmhouse Style is what you're after.

The Benefits of a Neutral Base Color Palette

Happy Monday, everyone! I've been in the process of packing up all of my Christmas decorations, and I thought while my living room is devoid of any color, I'd show you the benefit of working with a neutral color palette. I love to be able to change things up as the seasons change, and having neutral furniture and walls allows me to do that.  I wanted to show you what the neutral base looks like before I add personality and depth back into the room.

Below, the three pictures show the difference it makes just to change out some accessories. The first photo is just the neutral base, without any  pops of color or added textures. Just bare bones. The second is my fall living room, and the third was during Christmas. Each look so different, but it was very easy and inexpensive to achieve because all I had to change out were accessories.

Christmas Living Room:

I added Christmas throw pillows, changed out accessories like books and photos in order to get a different look for Christmas. I wanted the room to feel cozy and homey so using different textures in the room helped to do that.

On our entertainment center, I used lots of reds with books and boxes. I framed Christmas photos and free printables, and even let our Christmas movies act as decor in the wire baskets. I change items out in this fashion each season and it helps pull the room together.

Now that Christmas is over, all I have to do is swap out the large chalkboard print for one that will work for everyday or another season.

Here is a closer photo of our entertainment center so you can see better how I used little pops of reds in order to pull all of the color together.

Fall Living Room:

For fall, it was simple to change out the throw blanket, pillows, and accessories to completely change the look of the room.

Neutral Living Room:

And here the room is after I've taken all of the Christmas out, but haven't added anything back in yet. Very blah and very boring right now. But all I'll have to do is add in some pops of color and different textures to make the room feel cozy again.

I love being able to completely change the look and feel of the room throughout the year, so having such a neutral base works really well for me. I can't wait to show you guys after I give this room some personality again, and I hope this helps you in your own space when debating possible neutral walls/furniture.

Christmas Style Study: Plaids and Cozy Winter Essentials

Today is the last day of Christmas Style Study week. I've really enjoyed looking at the different styles and color combos this week. They are all so pretty and have something different to offer. But, I have to admit, today's style study may be my favorite (this year anyway). I've been very drawn to plaids and buffalo check. It's just so warm and cozy to me! This year, you'll see a lot of plaids in my Christmas decorating. I just couldn't help myself. It was kind of like those Pier 1 commercials where the lady walks in and something starts to speak to her (literally) and she has to take it home. That's what has happened to me this year with buffalo check and plaids. I can't wait to finish up all of my decorating to show you. But, how are you decorating this year? Christmas Style Study: Winter Whites and Neutrals

Welcome to Day Four of our Christmas Style Study week! Man, this week has really flown by. I've loved looking at all of the different styles so far, and honestly, it's really hard for me to say which is my favorite. I can find something I love about each style or color combo. I tend to change this up each year and that makes it fun to play with different styles. (I cannot wait to show you how I'm decorating for Christmas this year. Like last year, I'll be doing a full week of Christmas home tours in December. I'm so excited!) Okay, let's move on to today's style.
