Favorite Farmhouse Decor Sources

If you weren't already a Farmhouse style lover, then you might have been persuaded to join the barracks with the entrance of Chip and Joanna Gaines' Fixer Upper. At any rate, Farmhouse style is very in right now and often pairs well with an array of other design styles as well, making it easy to incorporate some of the elements into your home without having to completely start over with your decor. 

Today, I wanted to share with you some of my favorite sources for beautiful Farmhouse style. Whether you lean more toward Modern Farmhouse or Traditional Farmhouse, these sites will definitely have something for you. This isn't a sponsored post, just sites that I love and have ordered from and I wanted to pass along to you! 

Decor Steals

Decor Steals is a daily deals site featuring a new Farmhouse find every day. This is probably one of my favorite sites and I check it (ahem) daily to see what today's steal is. You really can score some great deals here and shipping is a reasonable $5 flat fee. I've ordered a few times from this site and haven't been disappointed. I like it because they often have unique items that are hard to find locally. 

In addition to the one daily steal, Decor Steals will often offer extended steals. This will vary from day to day. Sometimes there will be six extended offers, and sometimes only a couple. As with everything on this site, buy it quick because items often sell out quickly. 


Painted Fox Home

Painted Fox Home has an array of gorgeous Farmhouse finds! Lots and lots of beautiful and unique items! I love to browse through this site.

A neat feature on Painted Fox Home is the Collections. They are curated by home and diy bloggers and often include items that are in their own homes. It cool to see how they use the items at home to give you an idea of how to style your purchases.


Magnolia Market

Obviously, I had to include the site that's run by the queen of Farmhouse style, Joanna Gaines. Her site has such cute items for your home, including decor featured on Fixer Upper. You can't go wrong purchasing from here if that Farmhouse Style is what you're after.

DIY Fringe Party Backdrop

 

Ya'll, I love making DIY items for parties and gatherings. I love being able to use my hands to fashion something that is seemingly plain or ordinary into something with a little more pizzazz. And, I love making things special for guests! I made this fringe backdrop for a party and today, I'm showing you how to make one for your next gathering. It would be great to as a buffet backdrop, a photo booth, VBS decoration, proms. So many options! It looks complicated, but it is really simple, albeit slightly time consuming. It was worth every second!

 

 

 

Gather your supplies: 

*Plastic tablecloth

*Scissors

*Tape

*About 8 to 10 small packages of Tissue Paper (Depending on the desired size, you may need a little more or a little less).

 

Here's How: 

 Start with an inexpensive plastic tablecloth and cut to size if needed

Cut tissue paper in half (long way.)

 Starting at the bottom row, tape tissue paper to the tablecloth. Double up tissue paper for a fuller, more dimensional look.

 Once you have taped all your tissue paper in place, you are ready to start cutting the fringe

Using scissors, cut one to two inch strips to make the fringe. (I have since found that Martha Stewart makes a fringe cutter and it can be found at Michael's for $24.99. It might be worth the investment if you are going to be cutting a lot of fringe and will use it for more than this one project. You can see it HERE.)

Now, you are all ready to prepare for your gathering!

I used this backdrop for a graduation tea for my niece (that ended up getting cancelled due to sickness, but that is a whole other story). This party scene and party tips will be featured in the upcoming edition of Southern Holiday Life Magazine! Favorite Things: Fabrics

Hello!  I thought I'd share with you today a couple of my favorite fabric sources and what is catching my eye lately.  I love finding fabrics and shops that are not your everyday, easily found options.  It supports small business, and artisans who create beautiful, one-of-a-kind fabrics. 

#1 Spoonflower
Have you heard of Spoonflower? If not, you are missing out!  Spoonflower is a site where you can design your own fabric, wallpaper, gift wrap, or decals.  It gives you the opportunity to have a custom design at a great price.  Also, there are tons of great designers who sell their items on this site.  It is the perfect place to find out what is hip, trendy, and up-and-coming in the home design world in my opinion.  

Emily Sanford Designs is one of my favorites on Spoonflower.  Her fabric collection includes lots of coordinating watercolor patterns in bold colors. So beautiful!

And, you know the black and white Swiss Cross, or plus sign, is really hot right now in home design.  It's being put on walls, on furniture, and hey, why not a fabric?  Tagkari's simple cross design fabric is great for making a bold statement.  Other designs in the shop are bold and graphic as well.

#2 Etsy
I can't say enough about Etsy.  You can find anything you want on the site and wonderful fabric is no exception.  Here are a few patterns I found from a couple of my favorite Etsy shops.

Isn't that fox fabric adorable?  I can see it along with the coordinating fabrics in a nursery or playroom.  Love it!

And what little girl wouldn't love a little shimmer and sparkle?  This fabric is so pretty with just the right amount of bling.

This fabric is so pretty!  It is from one of my favorite shops, Sew Fine Fabrics.  I used a similar print in a dark turquoise to cover my lamp shades in my living room.  Great quality and wonderful prices!

Ahhh, gold. Whether it is used on a gold foil art print, as a polka dot feature wall, upholstery fabric, or a side table, I am absolutely smitten.  Gold has made a comeback and it is better than ever!

November Trend: Plaids

November is here already. It's kind of hard to believe that Thanksgiving is right around the corner. This morning,  I have rounded up some of my favorite plaid posts from around the web.
